About this blog...

***** THIS BLOG HAS BEEN REPLACED IN 2012 ***** If you've come aross this blog site by accident, pop over to www.krystaguille.com for my current one *****

One lazy day in 2009, I decided to embark on a photo-a-day-for-a-year challenge. I set myself a goal to upload a different photo every day - some are of my gorgeous clients, some are of my ever obliging family and friends.

Well, I reached the end of the challenge year, and while I didn't quite succeed at a photo-a-day, this blog became part of my weekly routine.

And so I continue...at a new location.

Little actress..

I love taking family portraits ... but I also love the moments that are caught on the sidelines to capture individual personalities. Take this cheeky little performer, for example.  She had a lot of fun!

Secret beaches...

One of the most precious things about living in Albany is that, even in peak tourist season, you can nearly always find yourself your own private beach... like here last night at 6pm.

Ben...

One of the perks of having a brother who is also a photographer is having someone willing to scout for new locations with.  Yesterday we got out and about at the "magic hour" and found a few gems.  Can't wait for the next shoot!

Handsome little devil...

This photo was actully taken while I was doing a photoshoot to promote a business... but how could I resist those blue eyes?  Thank goodness he needed a nap or I'd never have got my "real" work done.

Cousins at Christmas...

Christmas, for us, is all about family.  Here are "the cousins" who got us to lots of mischief yesterday at the farm at Tenterden.

Happy Birthday Mum...

Here my Mum is with Isobel on the train into Paris last September.  Isobel had been missing her "Neannie" dreadfully while we were travelling so this was an exciting day - she wouldn't leave Mum's side once they were re-united in Versailles.

Mum has had to share her birthday with another important person all her life. Happy Birthday to the World's Best Mum (and Neannie)!

Wishing you a Christmas full of laughter...

One more sleep ... and Tom is turning himself inside out with excitement! I'd like to wish you all a fun and joyful Christmas!

Never enough beach...

It wasn't until I started these posts that I realised how much of our life centres on the beach.  Here's Isobel a few days ago sporting a cap that she also wore while we were travelling in Europe ... she became proudly patriotic while we were away!

Thankful...

At the peak of the craziness that is Christmas, I am grateful for the beach - it restores my balance.

Arrivederci amici speciali...

Goodbye special friends!  There is a unique bond that you form when you swap homes with a family... its got something to do with trust, generosity & genuine affection... difficult to explain.  But I do know we will all miss the Fiammenghis as they head off for an Aussie Christmas in Alice Springs!

Until we meet again...I think we agreed last night (over some red wine) that we'd meet in the Seychelles!

"Fun" needs no translation...

Don't you just love that kids don't need to use words to communicate!  These four met in Italy earlier this year, and have renewed their friendship now in Albany - but with very little common language... except the language of  "fun"!

The boat's on the water...

Yesterday we helped celebrate Gristy's boat finally making it onto the water after two years in the dock (is that the right term... I'm no boatie!?).  This is Isobel with Bernadetta from Italy checking it is seaworthy.

Happy birthday Ruby-dog...

Its a big day... Christmas holidays begin and Ruby turns nine today.  We love you Rubes!

Take me back...

We moved out of our house today to make way for our "home exchange" family from Italy.  Being with the Fiammenghis again has brought a back a flood of blissful memories of our "home exchange" in their holiday apartment in a swanky ski resort in the Dolomites, Northern Italy.  Here are some self-indugent holiday snaps from September - the first is Milena cooking us a meal to die for!

Is it possible that Albany could be as exotic to them as Alpe de Suise was to us?

A hard day at the office...

Yesterday I had a fun photoshoot at a very groovy holiday-house/meetings venue.  Narelle at Cruize Inn runs incredible yogo/surf retreats as you can see below.   Yes, its hard to believe they call this work!

Smiling is infectious...

Meet my handsome neighbour.  I don't know anyone with such an infectious smile - I'm sure he smiles in his sleep!  This was taken at Surf Club, Middleton Beach.

If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.  Andy Rooney

Chalk & cheese...

These two exquisite little sisters also have adorable personalities. They were a delight to photography yesterday. (And, yes, their parents are amazing looking too!)

Dec 13, 2009

Cheeky pants...

Not really sure why I chose this photo today... maybe its the hot weather we are loving here now in Albany.  It is reminding me of similar heat in Spain where I took this photo back in August.  Hoping it lasts all summer!

Dec 12, 2009

One, two, three...

These three little ratbags have been buddies since birth - they have a special kind of bond, which I hope lasts forever.  This was taken at their "end of school term" party.

A real dad....

It's my husband's 40th birthday today - here's a pic of him from last weekend at Betty's Beach with his favourite daughter. (He has a favourite son too!)  I read the statement below somewhere recently and thought how lucky our children are to have such a great dad.  We love you Dave!

It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.

Ears like wings...

Ruby has featured in this blog before, and she is bound to appear again.  She is the source of much amusement for me.  This is her about to "take off "down at the beach.  Those ears are magnificent.

Dec 9, 2009

The tree is up...

We were a few days late but a "real" tree was selected from the farm on the weekend and carted back to the lounge room where the kids got straight to work.  Tom preferred decorating himself!

Dec 8, 2009

From the homestead garden...

My father-in-law has the most beautiful garden.  If I'm lucky, my husband occassionally remembers to bring me some home after a day of work on the farm.  Believe me, they provide a contrast to the sight (and smell) of Dave after a day of cattle-work.

Dec 7, 2009

Christmas angel...

Although her mum doesn't agree that this little angel has a halo, I think she is perfect!  This weekend, all angels fluttered into Albany for the annual Christmas Pageant.

Weekends are good...

Sunday goes so quickly!  A week of Sundays... that's what I'm asking Santa for!

Dec 5, 2009

Lest we forget...

This would have been more appropriate had I posted it on Rememberance Day but for some reason, it was the pic of choice today.  Taken at the the Australian Park Memorial in the Somme Valley, France.  The Memorial in the bakground commemorates more than 100 000 Australians who served in the Australian Corps in France.

The eye is the window of the soul; the intellect and the will are seen in it. - Hiram Powers

Twinkle toes...

Here's another from the weekend.

Softly, softly...

Even the biggest boof-head can be gentle when required.

Elliot ...

I was wrapped to have the chance to photography Elliot.  He's such a handsome little man.  And he didn't disappoint me.  Look at those eyes!  He's bound to break a few hearts in future years.
