I have been so looking forward to sharing this beautiful wedding with you.  

I know it seems like a cliche to speak of how much "in love" a couple are on their wedding day.  I know it, but I'll say it anyway.   Heidi + Leigh are so very much in love.

Perhaps it was the amazing setting (Alila Villas, Uluwatu, Bali). Or maybe it was relaxed tropical holiday feeling.   Whatever it was, Heidi + Leigh's love made us all smile with joy! It was such an honour to witness your happiness... I get a bit choked up thinking about it.  K x

Don't know about you, but I think there's something about this couple that says "comfortable".

Mosquitoes... {landscapes}

Its a cruel twist of nature that the photographer's beloved "golden hour" comes with its perils.  Right when the sun is sinking towards the horizon and we photogs are grasping our cameras with the promise of a spectacular glowing sunset, out come the mozzies!

I was massacred last night while down at Middleton Beach for a family portrait session. But will it stop me from avoiding the seductive, magic, addictive "golden light"?

Never!

First Look... {wedding}

I am very excited about Kylie and Russ's wedding this Sunday as we're doing "first look" photos. 

Some call it a "reveal moment". Traditionally the bride and groom do not see each other before the wedding - a tradition that originated in arranged marriages where bride & groom had never met each other, let alone seen each other before the wedding. 

But, by tossing aside the tradition, the couple greet each other alone (aside from me & my camera) in a more secluded area away from the guests just before the ceremony.  The rest of the day is filled with craziness, a little chaos, and mobs of family and friends rushing them at all times. 

SO SPECIAL!   

Bella Bambino... {child portrait}

I am always ready to chase little ones around to capture their little personalities.   And with a combination of 2-year-old independence & fiery European-blood, this beautiful little princess was on the go - chase I did! 

Best in Show... {event}

If you went along to the Albany Show this year, you'll no doubt have seen this amazing display.  The judges agree with me - they gave it first place!

With just one weeks’ notice, Hamish & Sam of SMASH Creations built this eye-catching display (three days planning, three days building) for Albany Solar.   

Their brief was open to their interpretation which meant their creative juices could really flow!  They came up with an environmentally friendly design that was in keeping with both the business & industry as a whole.  Incredibly,  the bulk of the display was  constructed  from recycled pallets and cardboard - in fact, 95% of the display came from the "rubbish" at Albany Solar. 

I suspect SMASH Creations will be in BIG demand for next year's show displays, judging from the reaction of the general public!

Strange... {wedding)

OK  - so there's something about birds and weddings that I've been shooting lately.  

I've had the very animated ducks who just strolled up the footpath as though they were guests.  

I've had the gigantic unidentifiable bird in the tree who emptied its bladder whilst the groom was directly below (I haven't recovered from that one yet since I was responsible for positioning the groom - so no, I won't be sharing a photo from that experience.)

And now I have had the attack of the killer willy-wagtails! Yes, you read that correctly - not magpies but innocent pretty little birds who kept dive bombing my bride and groom last weekend!   

 What next I ask??  Protesting penguins?
